Playar - Coming Soon!

Playar provides a platform for accessing Augmented Reality content on both computers and smartphones.

The video above shows the sort of content which could be available. Initially the Playar logo is shown spinning a few centimeters above the poster. When the user presses and releases the screen, some content related to the poster is displayed. In this case we take colour versions of the 3 small photos and zoom them in. Note how the content is positioned very accurately in the plane of the poster, so it appears to be connected to the real piece of paper in a very "solid" way. In a way we have turned the poster itself into an active object.

The content could be anything - animations, static images, interactive elements, audio, 3D models or live data from the internet. Imagine being able to overlay maps at bus stops with icons showing the current position of your next bus, having embeded animations in flat-pack furniture instructions so fixing widget C in doodah F is actually understandable, or maps in city centres which spring to life and become interactive tourist guides when viewed with your phone. Playar will provide the link between objects in the real world and the virtual content. The only limit to the possibilities is your imagination!
